Having issues with my PC after a power surge – any ideas?

I experienced a one-second power surge at home, which caused everything to restart, including my PC. While the computer itself appears fine, I'm noticing minor glitches every 3-5 seconds, which were not present before the surge. I've tried reinstalling my GPU drivers and running system checks in CMD, but nothing seems off. I also ran checks on my SSD, and it showed no issues. I'm starting to wonder if the power supply unit (PSU) or another component might be the problem. By the way, I've noticed major drops in FPS during games when these glitches happen. Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

I experienced something similar, and it turned out to be my GPU. Swapped it out for another one, and the issues disappeared. If you have access to a different GPU, give it a try!

Have you updated the BIOS for your motherboard? Sometimes, an outdated BIOS can cause unexpected glitches after hardware disturbances like power surges.

It sounds like there could be some corrupted files that your checks didn’t catch. A clean reinstall of Windows might be worth a shot before you start replacing hardware. Sometimes that’s all it takes to clear up performance issues, especially after a power event.
