Having Trouble After NVIDIA Update and Getting Stuck in Repair Loops

I'm using an HP computer with 64GB Intel UHD graphics, and I've found myself stuck in an automatic repair loop after trying to update NVIDIA drivers. I deleted everything in the SoftwareDistribution folder to free up space, which I was told wouldn't cause any issues. However, now I can't locate my Windows installation as the scan returns nothing. I'm currently in recovery mode. Here's what I know: I successfully created the EFI partition and booted the necessary files, and the files and EFI are healthy. But I'm getting an error, the cloud install isn't working, DISM is failing, and I can't use the network install either. I also can't uninstall previous updates, but I'm working on it through the command line. I've run SFC /scannow, but it doesn't seem to fix the issues because the same files reappear after a reboot. I even attempted a clean install, but it stopped at 40%. I suspect my Windows ISO might be corrupted, and I don't have a USB available. I plan to check if I can use a computer at the library for a new installation. Any advice would be appreciated!

It sounds like your issues might stem from the corrupt installation source. Deleting files in the SoftwareDistribution folder can lead to problems because it stores important update files that are needed for rolling back updates. It's vital to keep those until you're sure you won’t need them anymore. If space is an issue, try rebooting a few times and applying all available updates first. Once those are done, then you might consider clearing that folder. If you've still got issues, I recommend creating a new Windows installation media using another PC—might be the simplest way to fix this.

I completely understand your frustration! Deleting everything can definitely cause more harm than good if you're not absolutely sure what you're getting rid of. You might want to check if there's still a way to access recovery options through the BIOS menu. If your cloud install is failing, it could be due to a lack of connection or a corrupted recovery partition. If you have to go to the library, definitely download a clean Windows ISO to a USB and see if that resolves your problems.
