Hey everyone! I'm facing some issues while trying to switch my main PC to Linux. Specifically, I've been focusing on using Nobara, since it meets most of my needs. However, when I try to boot the ISO, it gets stuck on a black screen with a "_" character. I've had similar issues with Fedora, and although Linux Mint and Zorin OS work just fine, I really want to get Nobara or Fedora up and running because I need something quick to set up for school.
I've heard that my problems might be related to NVIDIA drivers, but I haven't been able to find a fix. I've tried reinstalling the ISO on different USB drives and ports and even used tools like Elena Betcher and Ventoy, but those didn't help either.
Here are my PC specs:
- CPU: AMD PRO A8 8650B
- RAM: 10GB (I know it's a bit odd)
- GPU: Quadro P620 (still supported with the latest updates)
I'm hoping to find either a fix for my current situation or maybe get recommendations for a new distro that supports video editing, gaming, and tools like Blender while sticking to KDE.

You might want to try using Fedora Media Writer to flash your ISO. Also, check your BIOS settings to ensure that CSM/Legacy support and Secure Boot are turned off. And if you haven't looked into it already, consider Bazzite; it's super reliable and low maintenance for everyday tasks.
This sounds pretty rare! Some PCs just have a harder time running Linux. It could be worth checking if your hardware is compatible. What specific model are you using?
When booting from a USB, it can take a while for the process to complete. How long are you letting it try to boot? Also, you could try using Rufus to create the bootable USB—it checks the ISO as it writes, which can help avoid issues from corrupt files.
Your monitor setup could be a factor here. If it's using a different GPU or if it’s not configured for multiple monitors, that might cause the black screen issue. What’s your current monitor setup?
