Hey everyone! I'm trying to set up a connection to my PC using Microsoft Remote Desktop. The remote PC is running Windows 10 Pro and I'm logging in with my personal Microsoft account. My local PC is on Windows 11 Pro, and I'm using a local account here. Every time I try to connect, I get an error message saying "remote desktop can't find the computer." Does anyone have any tips or solutions? Also, if you know of any good remote desktop applications, I'm currently using AnyDesk but I'm open to suggestions.

First off, check if both your PCs are on the same network. That’s usually a big factor. Also, make sure you’re using the correct hostname or IP address for your Windows 10 machine. Sometimes firewalls can interfere, so ensure that Windows Firewall or any other security software isn’t blocking the connection. Have you tried checking the status of the Remote Desktop service to see if it’s running? That’s worth looking into!
Thanks for the tips! The PCs are not on the same network, and I’ve double-checked the hostname, but I haven’t tried the IP yet. I did check the firewall settings and allowed remote control. I’m not sure about testing ping or telnet connectivity though.
