Having trouble installing KB3025096 on Windows 11 – Is it a bug?

I'm facing an issue with installing the KB3025096 update on my Windows 11 Pro system. I've searched everywhere for info and the documentation on this problem is pretty sparse. The usual tech support places seem to be quiet on this, while I need a real solution.

The error I'm getting is `CBS_E_INVALID_PACKAGE` with HRESULT `0x800f0805`, which indicates that the package might be corrupted, not properly signed, or incompatible with my system. This problem is a bit worrisome since it can leave potential security or stability issues if the update is crucial.

In my CBS log, I see repeated messages about failing to open the package. If anyone has experienced a similar issue or has any advice, I would really appreciate your thoughts!

If you can't get this resolved in about 30 minutes, your best bet is to just re-image the device. It's often more efficient than trying to troubleshoot these stubborn Windows patch issues.

Totally agree! When Windows updates cause problems, trying to fix them can be such a hassle. Reimaging is definitely the way to go.

Have you actually had this error before? From what I see, it’s odd since this KB seems to tie back to a preview update from 2014. My system runs fine unless I check the CBS logs.

That KB number seems outdated; you sure it's applicable for Windows 11?

Yep, it's for Windows 11 version 26100.4351. I've already run DISM and SFC, which came back fine. The CBS log is the real concern since it links back to a Win10 update from way back.

There are some serious known issues with this. It's possible Microsoft might have realized it was causing problems and pulled it. Definitely worth checking the latest updates.
