I'm attempting to set up my new Canon TR7020a printer, but it seems to be stuck on 'Detecting Driver Model' for over an hour. I've tried this multiple times without any success. Just for some context, I'm only moderately skilled with tech, usually managing to figure things out with a bit of Google help, but printers have never been my strong suit. I'm replacing an old Pixma 9100 that caused me so much frustration I ended up throwing it out! Can anyone help me get this printer installed?

Try plugging the printer directly into your laptop's USB port and see if Windows can automatically detect and install the driver for you. Sometimes using the software that comes with the printer can cause issues. You can also check by going to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, then click 'Add a printer or scanner' and follow the prompts.
I actually did all that you mentioned straight from the settings, but that’s when it got stuck. No software involved.
