Help! Black Screen After Upgrading My CPU

Hey folks, I recently upgraded my CPU from a Ryzen 5 5500 to a Ryzen 7 5800X on my Asrock B450 Steel Legend motherboard. Now I'm facing a black screen during boot-up. I've tried unplugging the RAM and GPU and even removed the CMOS battery for about 10 minutes. After that, I encountered an endless power cycle. When I plugged in the RAM again, it stopped cycling, and now the LEDs are on, fans are running, but I still can't access the BIOS. Any advice on how to fix this would be really appreciated!

You might need to update your motherboard's BIOS. It’s a common fix for compatibility issues after changing CPUs. If you haven’t done this yet, give it a shot!

I actually updated the BIOS before changing the CPU.

Have you tried putting the Ryzen 5 back in? That might help determine if the new CPU is the issue. Also, are you certain the 5800X works by testing it in another system? It's worth checking!

If I put the R5 back in, I still get the black screen.

A solid workaround could be to put your old CPU back in, update the BIOS, and then switch back to the new one. Sometimes that can resolve these kinds of issues.
