Help! Can’t Download Windows to New SSD

I had a problem where my SSD with Windows on it failed, and now I'm trying to download Windows onto another SSD using a USB drive. However, every time I go through the downloading process, I either end up back at the Windows download screen or the BIOS menu if the USB drive isn't connected. I've checked all the boot settings and made the new SSD the priority while unplugging the old one. I'm stuck and would appreciate any ideas on what else might be causing this. Thanks!

It sounds like there could be several reasons for this issue. First, ensure the new SSD is properly formatted and initialized. Sometimes, if BIOS or UEFI doesn't recognize the SSD, it could lead to this problem as well. Also, make sure the drivers for the SSD are up to date and check that the installation media isn't corrupted. You might want to try downloading a fresh Windows ISO just to rule that out.

Thanks for the tips! If I discover the SSD is not initialized, how do I go about formatting it?

I've been in a similar boat before, and it might be worth trying to boot from the USB in a different way. Make sure it's fully prepared as a bootable USB — tools like Rufus can help with that. If you keep getting redirected, try a different USB port or another USB stick if you have one lying around.

Good call on the bootable USB. I'll check that out!
