I'm looking to upgrade my old desktop that's been running on Windows 7 with an i7 6700K. It used to be my main machine for 3D modeling and rendering, but I also want it to handle gaming and VR pretty well. I'm torn between going for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D or the Ryzen 9 9950X3D. My gut says the 9800, but I know having 32 threads could really help with CPU processes. Any thoughts?

Your choice really hinges on what you do most. If your work benefits from more cores, then the 9950X3D is worth it. Otherwise, if you're mostly relying on your GPU for rendering, you might be wasting cash on the extra cores. I'm sticking with fewer cores myself because I can’t deal with the CCD parking problems the 9950 has.

I didn't know about those CCD issues. Can you explain that further?
