I'm trying to build a PC primarily for competitive gaming at 1080p, where I don't really care about graphics quality because FPS is the priority. I'm considering a monitor with up to 540Hz refresh rate since I play games like League of Legends, CS2, and Valorant. I also plan to do some light streaming and content creation, but nothing too intensive like 3D editing.
I'm aiming for a budget of around 1000 to 1500 euros for my build, which will include 2x16GB of DDR5 RAM at 6000+ MHz and a Ryzen 5 7800X processor. My big question is about which GPU to choose. Should I go with the RTX 4070, Radeon RX 7800 XT, or even the 7900 XT? Or would it make more sense to opt for a weaker option like the RTX 4060 Ti and invest more in the CPU? What about the RTX 4070 Super? Is an NVIDIA GPU really necessary for simple video editing? Any insights would be really appreciated!

You might have a hard time finding the NVIDIA 40 series GPUs in stock if you're not in a good area. I’d recommend checking availability first before making your decision. Most competitive gamers lean towards NVIDIA for better driver support and optimization in many titles, but AMD GPUs can absolutely handle the games you're interested in too.
If you’re serious about FPS, both the RTX 4070 and RX 7800 XT will give you solid performance at 1080p, but the RTX line is generally more favorable for video editing. If you think you’ll be doing any editing, I'd lean towards NVIDIA for that reason. However, if the budget is tight, a 4060 Ti might allow you to allocate more funds towards your CPU while still offering decent performance.
Exactly! If video editing is just a side thing, you can save a bit with the 4060 Ti and get a solid all-around build.
I’ve actually seen quite a few 40 series options around here, so it depends on where you’re located. Just make sure to compare prices!
