Help! I Forgot My Trusted Phone Number for My Apple ID and Can't Unlock My Account

I've been using an older iPad Air that I bought back in 2021, and it's been locked for about a year now. Unfortunately, I can't remember the trusted phone number associated with my Apple ID, and without it, I can't reset anything. I feel stuck because I can't unlock my account due to this, and my attempts at finding a solution have gone nowhere. Does anyone have any advice on how to get around this issue?

Unfortunately, there's really no way to unlock your account without that trusted phone number. Apple requires the original purchase receipt to remove the activation lock if you've forgotten your password. It sounds a bit tricky, but have you checked with your carrier? They usually keep records for a long time, and maybe they can help jog your memory about your old number.

I’m a little dubious here. Do you really not remember any other contact or friend who might have your old number stored? This story seems a bit fishy. Honestly, your best bet is to get in touch with Apple directly, as they have the final say on ownership.

Was the iPad linked to your personal Apple account before it got locked? If you can access iCloud through a web browser, it might lead you to some recovery options.

Try to recall what your old phone number was; if you can remember it, you can go through the account recovery process. Without that phone number, it might be tough to regain access.
