I recently formatted my PC to install Windows 10 and converted my HP pendrive into a Windows Installer. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that this would erase all the files on my pendrive, which include a ton of childhood memories. I'm hoping someone can help me recover my lost data!

You've probably wiped the data when the installer was created. It happens! Try scanning the pendrive with recovery programs, and if you still can't find anything, you might be looking at some serious data loss. How big was the pendrive, and how much data were you trying to recover?

Unfortunately, once you've formatted the drive for an installer, your data is typically gone. It’s crucial to always back up important files beforehand. If you want to try recovering some files, software like Get Data Back for FAT/NTFS might help. Just remember, the more you use the pendrive now, the less likely you'll be to recover anything.

It sounds like you wiped your data when you converted your pendrive into an installer. Usually, it warns you that the process will delete all existing files. You might want to try using recovery software like Recuva or TestDisk to see if you can get anything back. If those don't work, professional recovery services can sometimes help, but they’re expensive—typically over $400.

The name change is definitely a sign that your data may be lost. You could try data recovery software, but results can vary. Just don’t write anything new on the pendrive. The trial version of some software will show you what files it can recover, so you might want to give that a shot!
