Help! I Replaced My SSD and Lost Everything, What Can I Do?

I recently upgraded my SSD because my C drive was getting full, and now I'm facing a major issue. After successfully installing the new OS, I realized I hadn't backed up my files, and now it seems like everything is gone! My D drive is still there, but it only shows that I have things installed, like apps and games, but they all say 'install' instead of recognizing what was there. I'm looking for advice on how to recover or restore my lost files. Is it possible to switch back to my old SSD to retrieve my files? What's the best way to move forward without losing anything important?

You should think about whether you want to start fresh or try to recover your old apps. If you're set on keeping your old D drive data intact, just go through it and identify what's necessary before trying to delete anything. It's possible to manage your drives without losing important files.

If your games are installed through Steam, you can just point Steam to its folder on the old drive to recognize them again. Also, many games have cloud saves, so you won't lose your progress. If there's nothing super important on your old drive, consider wiping it to clear up space, but be careful not to lose anything vital.

You can definitely switch back to your old drive. Once you do, everything should boot up like before, and all your files should be there. From there, look into cloning the old drive to the new one using cloning software. That way, Windows won't notice a difference, and you'll have everything back in your new setup.

Did you install the OS on your new C drive? If so, then any data that was on your old C drive is likely unrecoverable if you've overwritten it. But your D drive still holds your downloaded apps, right? Just note that without reinstalling or pointing them to the new system, they might not work.
