Hey everyone, I have two Apple IDs: one linked to my iCloud account and another on Gmail. I haven't used the Gmail one since 2014. Recently, I received an email notifying me that the password for my Gmail-linked Apple ID was reset. I panicked because even though I don't use that account anymore, it still belongs to me. When I tried to log in, it asked for a trusted phone number that I don't recognize. The only thing I can access is the email itself. Is there a way to recover this account with just my email? Also, I noticed several emails about other password reset attempts and account confirmations. Should I be worried about who might have accessed my account?

It seems like when someone took over your old account, they might have enabled Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). Unfortunately, that usually means you'd need the trusted phone number to access it again. If you don't have that, regaining access could be quite tough. I’m really sorry to hear that everything is going on with your account.

But if I'm still getting emails about account confirmations, does that mean they haven't fully taken control?
