I recently bought a new iPhone and moved all my data from my old one. After transferring, I reset the old iPhone, but now my new phone is asking me to send a message to the old phone for two-factor authentication. The old phone just shows the "Hello" screen after the reset, so I can't access it. I'm really worried because it seems to be asking for a message to a trusted number, which appears to be my old phone number.

If both phones have SIM trays and your new phone isn't showing cell service, you need to move the old SIM card to the new phone. If your new phone has service bars, you don't need to transfer the SIM. But if it has no service, then yes, switching the SIM should allow the 6-digit verification code to send to the new phone.
If you've switched carriers and didn't port your old number, that might be the issue. You could try reaching out for account recovery through Apple, but keep in mind that it can take some time to process.
