Hey everyone, I'm feeling pretty anxious and could really use some help. About 20 hours ago, while I was using Discord on my PC (with the Discrub extension to delete messages), I noticed a strange green border around Chrome. After some digging, I found out that this usually indicates screen sharing, which freaked me out since I had actually seen it before even opening Discord. So, I quickly logged out of Discord and reopened Chrome, and the border had disappeared. I checked for any new users on my Discord or Gmail and didn't find anything suspicious. I was also really late in changing my passwords, but I managed to reset my Discord and Gmail passwords and updated my 2FA from a different device.
Some context: a few weeks ago, I found AnyDesk on my PC and deleted it, as I suspect it was installed by a tech support guy who helped me a few months back. I've run multiple scans with Malwarebytes, HitmanPro, and Windows Defender, which all came back clean. I've also checked Chrome's WebRTC settings, CPU usage spikes, and even looked for residual files from AnyDesk, but everything seems okay. Now I'm just wondering, should I go for the nuclear option and reinstall my OS, or am I overreacting? And is my Discord safe? I have some pretty intimate stuff there from when I used it as a teen before switching to Signal. Thanks for any advice!

Don't stress too much just yet! If you’ve scanned your computer multiple times and it’s clean, chances are you're fine. Just keep your passwords strong and think about using a password manager next time. As for Discord, if you’ve changed your password and 2FA, it should be secure enough.
It sounds like you’ve taken a lot of precautions already, which is great! I don't think you need to reinstall your OS just yet. The green border could have been a glitch or a misconfiguration in Chrome. Just keep monitoring your accounts, and if everything runs smoothly for a bit longer, you're likely in the clear!
Yeah, agreed! Just make sure to keep your security software updated and stay cautious with the sites you visit.
Exactly! And about the old conversations, if you're worried about them, consider backing up essential data and maybe just moving away from Discord for sensitive chats.
