Help! Linux Won’t Boot Without Nomodeset on My Pentium N3710

I'm having serious trouble getting Linux to boot on my laptop with a Pentium N3710 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 1TB hard drive. I really need hardware acceleration, so I need to get rid of the 'nomodeset' option. Unfortunately, whenever I try other kernel parameters like 'i915.enable_psr=0' or 'intel_idle.max_stall_state=1', the laptop won't boot at all. The display goes completely dark, and I'm forced to shut it down by holding the power button. I'm puzzled as to why the i915 driver won't initialize. Is there a specific driver for this CPU? I've been testing with both Arch and Debian distros. P.S. Sorry for my grammar!

You should be able to use the standard Intel GPU drivers since your CPU is pretty basic and similar to the Broadwell series. It should work ideally. Also, have you considered updating your BIOS? Sometimes firmware issues can cause conflicts with Linux drivers, and a BIOS update might resolve that problem.

I haven't done any BIOS updates yet. I have no idea how to do that.
