Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a pickle and could really use your advice. As a software developer, I'm usually working with dual monitors, but when I work from home, I'm stuck with just my laptop screen, which isn't cutting it. I'm looking to buy a proper monitor primarily for coding, but I'm also considering getting a gaming PC in the future. I've got a budget of around $300 to $400.
I was leaning towards an ultrawide monitor, but I've heard that they don't always support games well, so I'm having second thoughts. OLED is out of my budget, and I've read it's not great for productivity due to potential burn-in issues and text clarity problems.
So, I'm currently weighing my options between:
* A **27" 1440p** monitor - seems like a solid choice, but I'm a bit worried it might feel small after using dual monitors.
* A **32" or 34"** monitor - could be great for coding, but I'm concerned it might be too big or awkward for gaming.
I want something that gives me enough space without feeling like I'm gaming on a giant TV. Any recommendations on specs or models that might strike the right balance? Thanks for your help!

Honestly, I think a 27" 1440p is the sweet spot! I have a couple in my gaming/work setup, and they work great. At your budget, the refresh rate might be a bit limited, but if you can swing a 120 or 144 Hz, it's a fantastic upgrade from standard 60 Hz for gaming.
I totally get the struggle! I’m using a 49” ultrawide and I can’t imagine going back. It’s like having two monitors in one and it does wonders for productivity. If you’re worried about it being too big for gaming, I can assure you that a 32" or 34" is definitely manageable for that too!
What if I just focused on coding? Would two 27" 1440p monitors be better than a single 32" or 34" ultrawide?
