Hey everyone! I've got this old Fujitsu laptop that I've had for about 13 years, and lately, it's been running super slow. A year ago, I tried to reset it to factory settings since I now have a new laptop, but then I ran into issues when I discovered I couldn't boot it up properly. The technician I took it to said it can't be fixed, which was pretty discouraging. I also have a USB stick with Windows 10 on it, since this old laptop can't handle Windows 11. I'm really hoping someone out there can give me some advice or options on what to do next. Thanks in advance!

If the repair tech said it can't be fixed, that’s a pretty clear sign. A 13-year-old laptop isn't worth investing much into, so it could be time to let it go. However, if you really want to salvage it, there are some DIY solutions like checking the BIOS settings or attempting a clean installation of Windows 10 again using that USB stick. Just keep in mind, if it’s a BIOS malware issue, it might not be as simple. Also, you’ll want to ensure you back up any important files from the laptop if you can get it running at all.

Before trying anything, can you clarify what you mean by "it had the USB stick thing missing"? Are you unable to use the USB to boot or is there something else happening? Knowing the exact make and model would really help too. It sounds like you can’t boot at all, but just double-checking!

Adding to what others have said, it might be useful to check if there's an option in the BIOS to enable USB booting. Sometimes those settings can change or get cleared. But honestly, if the technician deemed it unfixable, it might be time to consider investing in a new laptop.
