Help! My AORUS X870 and 9800X3D Build is Seriously Underperforming

Hey everyone! I just got a new build with an AORUS X870 motherboard and a 9800X3D CPU, and I'm running into some serious performance issues. When I first booted it up, I experienced some micro stutters, so I decided to flash the BIOS from F3 to F7C, which I read was stable for others despite being a beta version. Initially, everything seemed to be working great, but after playing Cyberpunk for about an hour, my system lagged heavily, forcing me to shut it down. Now, whenever I boot it up, the CPU doesn't exceed 60 watts even under load! It seems to have massive delays and the FPS in Cyberpunk is only around 45 on low settings, placing me in the bottom 5% of user benchmarks. I've checked with my Dr. Power2 tool and noticed issues with the 24-pin connector on my PSU. I switched to an MSI MPG1000GS, but the performance problems persist. I've tried a few troubleshooting steps, but I'm really worried that the beta BIOS might have damaged my system or that a faulty power supply could have caused further issues. Here's a list of what I've already done: flashed to F6 BIOS, reinstalled Windows 11, replaced the power supply, enabled X3D mode, turned on high bandwidth memory, reset CMOS, set optimized defaults with XMP off, used a different GPU, and disabled onboard graphics, GPU scheduling, and adjusted the Windows power plan from balanced to performance. Here are my specs: 9800X3D, AORUS X870 WIFI7, WD SN850X 2TB PCIe 4.0, MSI RTX 5070 TI, Kingston Fury 32GB 6000MHz CL30, and Corsair RM1000E. Any advice or thoughts on what might be going wrong?

I've got the same AORUS motherboard, but with a 7800X3D and a 7700XT. I've heard that the firmware in the AM5 X870 might not play well with some of the 9000 series CPUs like yours. A lot of people have faced issues with the 9800X3D and your motherboard. You might want to keep an eye on the BIOS for updates or even try a different CPU to see if it helps.

Really appreciate the insight! I'm actually switching the motherboard tomorrow since the CPU is locked in.

Sounds like you might be experiencing some compatibility issues. I've got a similar setup, but with a 5080 GPU. At first, it was lagging too since it used the iGPU. I updated all my drivers and that really helped! Have you checked for any firmware updates for your motherboard or verified that your GPU is set correctly?

Thanks for sharing that! I felt the same pain until I updated the BIOS, so I’m hoping it’s similar for me.
