Help! My Apple TV Remote Won’t Control Volume or Mute

I've been using my Apple TV for a few weeks now without any issues, but suddenly my remote stopped working for the volume and mute functions. I can't adjust the volume up or down, and I can't mute either. I've tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps, including charging the remote, unplugging the Apple TV, restarting both the Apple TV and the remote, and even changing settings related to devices and IR. I also updated the iOS on my phone and Apple TV. Yet, I still can't get it to work. I've heard that if the remote dies, the IR may not function properly even after recharging, and I really don't want to deal with replacing it during the holidays. Can anyone help me out?

It sounds like you've done quite a bit of troubleshooting already! Just to clarify, does the remote control everything else like power and navigation, or is it just the volume and mute that are unresponsive? Sometimes, it helps to isolate the issue more clearly before trying further fixes.

Yes, it’s just the volume and mute that aren't working. Everything else like the power and Siri functions work fine!
