Last Friday, I set up a new computer for the CEO of one of my clients. While backing up his old PC, I noticed that in one of the programs I use, the "Browse" button didn't work—it didn't open the file explorer when clicked. I thought it might be a one-time glitch since I was replacing the computer anyway. After swapping in the new one, I imported all his files and went to run their primary software's installer, which also required me to change some default paths. Surprise, surprise—the browse button still wasn't working!
I then opened the same program I tested on the old PC, and again, no response from the browse button. However, when I switched to the domain admin account and ran the same program, the browse button worked perfectly! After installing the main software and changing the file paths, I switched back to the CEO's profile, and the issue persisted. Has anyone faced this problem or has any ideas on what might be causing it?

Could it be browser-related? I mean, if you're trying to use the browse button in a web app, make sure your browser settings allow file dialogs. You might need to adjust some registry policies for Microsoft Edge or whichever browser you're using.
It could also be a .NET problem. There was a bug that required a registry edit to fix it, although that was supposed to be patched ages ago. Check if there's any .NET related issue in that profile.
In every program, the browse button absolutely does nothing when I click it. It's so strange!
Sounds like a classic case of needing a profile rebuild. Sometimes user profiles get corrupted or buggy, which can lead to those buttons not functioning as they should.
I figured that might be the case. I'm just curious what's causing the problem in the first place.
No, this is happening across various programs, not just in a browser. When I try to change the installation path, the browse button doesn't work at all.
