I just got back from work and set up my gaming computer, only to find that Windows/Microsoft has created a Windows 11 master account linked to my personal email, even though I've disabled all notifications and requests. They also made a OneDrive folder when I specifically turned off those options. Now I can't just remove this account or recreate a local admin user without deleting and reinstalling everything. Is there any way to fix this?

If you want to avoid these kinds of auto-created accounts in the future, be really careful about entering your email with any Microsoft services. Even if you set up a local account, certain actions might still link back to a Microsoft account. Just something to keep in mind!
This might feel like a nightmare, but don't panic just yet! You might be able to use the command prompt to change your user account type back to local without losing data. Just make sure to research thoroughly or ask someone more experienced for help.
It sounds like your system might have been set to automatically create a Microsoft account using your email if certain options were enabled. This usually doesn't happen randomly; there could've been a setting you missed. One thing you can try is to check your account settings and see if there's an option to switch back to local accounts without a full reinstall. Just remember to back up your data first, so you don’t lose anything important.
Honestly, that’s pretty wild! I've never heard of a computer creating an account on its own. Are you sure you didn’t unintentionally approve something? Sometimes just having an app linked to your email can trigger these sorts of changes.
I get your frustration! Microsoft accounts can sometimes pop up unexpectedly, especially if you've used any Microsoft apps or services that require login. Have you checked if the updates might've changed any settings? It's tricky, but you might find a way to revert back without deleting everything.
I did check for updates, but none are pending, so I don’t think that’s the issue. I just want to handle this without the hassle of starting over.
Thanks for the advice! I'll look into the account settings again, maybe I missed something.
