Help! My computer keeps typing ‘c’ on its own – any ideas why?

Hey everyone! Ever since I updated to Windows 11, I've been having a weird issue where my computer randomly starts typing 'cccccccccc' out of nowhere. It can happen at any time, especially when I launch full-screen apps like Peak or Balatro, but sometimes I can play a game without issues and then exit without triggering it. Restarting my computer usually fixes the problem temporarily, and I noticed that unplugging my mouse seems to help, but then my keyboard stops working too. I've already tried swapping keyboards, running a malware scan, and checking for any unknown processes. I'm really curious if anyone has suggestions on what could be going on or how to fix it!

Have you checked if your keyboard is plugged directly into your computer or if it’s going through a hub? Sometimes changing the USB port can help resolve weird connectivity issues like this.

Google 'KeyboardChatterBlocker' if you haven’t yet. It lets you set a timeout for keys, which could help make your PC usable while you troubleshoot the root of the problem.

It sounds like your issue might be related to a stuck key on a keyboard or a mouse glitch. Have you checked if there’s another wireless keyboard around that might be causing the issue, even if you haven’t used it? Sometimes they can get lost under stuff but still send signals.

I’ve never used a wireless keyboard, so I doubt it’s that.

You might want to consider cleaning your keyboard. Sometimes debris or liquid damage can cause keys to stick. If you've already swapped keyboards, maybe check any connections or ports as well and ensure nothing is lodged in the new one!

I did swap the keyboard but will check it again for any debris.

It could also be worth checking out the software settings for your mouse. If it supports macros, perhaps something is misconfigured there. Try replacing it with a basic mouse temporarily to see if the problem persists.
