I've been relying on my phone to manage my contacts, but they also show up on my MacBook. Lately, any contact with a birthday keeps appearing twice in my calendar – once on the actual birthday and again a day earlier. I even ended up deleting all my contacts while trying to fix the birthday problem by removing duplicates in iCloud and had to start fresh. Over time, however, my MacBook's contacts app ended up with as many as 8 duplicates for each contact. When I tried merging those duplicates to clean things up, my phone ended up losing about two-thirds of my contacts. Now, even my family members show up as numbers instead of names in messages, even though they're saved in my MacBook contacts. I'm hesitant to sync with iCloud again because of previous issues, and Apple support hasn't provided any clear solutions. Does anyone have any tips on how to fix this? Thanks in advance!

I've been using a Gmail account for my contacts, and everything synced perfectly across all my devices for years. After moving my contacts from Gmail to iCloud, I turned off the Gmail sync and just kept everything in iCloud. If you're having issues, it might be worth checking your account settings again. Sometimes it's not the software, but how we've set things up. Just a thought!
Right? Glad it works smoothly for you. It sounds like the OP's just having some bad luck or a setup issue.
