Help! My CPU Cooler Won’t Reinstall Properly

I'm trying to put my CPU cooler back on after replacing my CPU, but it seems like there's nothing for the screws to go into. There are holes, but no screw holes where I expect them, and the screws don't seem to reach far enough. I'm really confused because I was able to unscrew it before. What could be going wrong?

Did the back plate drop off under the motherboard when you removed the cooler? If that happened, you’ll need to double-check there before trying to reinstall.

It sounds like you might be missing the back plate for the cooler. That could be why you can't screw it back in properly. If the fan was securely attached before, the back plate might have come off when you removed the cooler. You might need to take off the bottom panel of your case to check and reattach it.

Thanks a lot, I'll check that out!

Do you need the AMD logo plate? I can't get it to fit right and it doesn't seem necessary.
