Help! My CPU is at 100% After Installing Ubuntu – What Do I Do?

I recently installed Ubuntu, thinking it would be a nice change from Windows, but now my CPU usage is constantly at 100%. It's so slow that I can barely use my computer. I checked the system performance, and it shows that 'kwin_wayland' is hogging all the CPU resources. I have an Intel i5-10600k processor, a GeForce 3060 GPU, and 16GB of RAM. Can someone help me figure out how to fix this?

It sounds like you might have hit a snag with your setup. Have you tried switching from Wayland to the X.Org session? That tends to be more stable for many users and can help alleviate CPU issues. Also, make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. You can check that in the 'Additional Drivers' section in Ubuntu. That might just do the trick!

First off, can you share your system specs and which version of Ubuntu you're running? That'll help us diagnose the issue better. It sounds like 'kwin_wayland' might be the problem; this often happens if your GPU drivers aren't set up correctly for Wayland. You might want to switch to X11 and see if that improves performance a bit.
