Hey everyone! I've built my own PC about a year ago, and I've run into a puzzling issue lately. My CPU usage is showing 100% when my computer is idling—it's strange because when I check the task manager, the applications I have open seem to be using only about 90% combined, so I'm not sure what's going on. Performance-wise, everything seems fine; I haven't noticed anything slowing down. However, just to be safe, I want to figure this out. Also, I had some USB ports that weren't working a couple of months back, and I had to reinstall Windows to fix clicking issues with the icons. Not sure if these problems are connected, but any advice would be super helpful!

First, could you share the specs of your build? If your CPU is genuinely idling at 100%, it sounds like there might be something wrong. Try opening up the task manager again (you can do that with Ctrl+Alt+Delete) and check under the CPU tab. It will show all applications and processes currently running, and you can sort by CPU usage to see what's hogging the most resources.
Have you tried checking the Resource Monitor? Just head to the CPU tab there and sort the processes by CPU usage. The top process will tell you what's taking up the most CPU. If it shows something like 'System' or 'Windows Update,' you might have a corrupted file issue or there could be an issue with your SSD. Also, make sure your SSD isn’t full because that can also cause problems.
