I just built my new PC with a 98000x3d processor and a 5070 Ti graphics card, and it's already giving me trouble! After a few hours of playing Borderlands 4, I went away for 30 minutes, and when I returned, there was no video signal and the VGA light was on. I tried reinstalling Windows and switching to my old 1650 card, which did work. However, when I connect the new GPU, the system boots, but it barely runs and freezes, even when I try to log in. I'm really worried and I need some help to figure out what's going on!

Maybe Borderlands 4 really pushed your system too hard! Just a thought! But in all seriousness, there could be multiple issues. Check if the motherboard gives an error code with a light. It might be GPU-related, or even something like your SSD. Also, is your power supply adequate for the 5070 Ti? 850W should be fine, but check your PSU's ratings just to be sure!
Since you can boot into BIOS, it sounds like your main components are alright. But repeated Windows reinstalls could indicate something else wrong. Have you considered checking your RAM? If you have or can create a memtest86 USB, that's a good place to start. Also, make sure to wipe your storage partitions before reinstalling Windows.
I can access BIOS with either the iGPU or a different GPU. I plan to run memtest overnight to be safe.
Looks like you're in a tough spot! If everything runs fine with onboard video but not with your new GPU, I'd say that points towards the GPU being the culprit. Don't forget to check if your SSD might be an issue too; sometimes less new drives can act up. Good luck with your build!
Does your motherboard have onboard video? If you can get it to work with onboard video or a different GPU, then it's likely your 5070 Ti that's causing the issue. I'd recommend starting an RMA process with the GPU company, just to be safe. You contacted the retailer, right? That’s a good step!
You mentioned getting an error light for VGA output. What specific code are you seeing? Also, can you tell me the exact model of your motherboard? That kind of info helps in diagnosing issues more accurately!
I get an error light when I boot with my DP cable connected to the GPU. I'm using an Aorus Elite Ice B850, not sure of the exact name, but it's that series.

As I mentioned, the VGA light is on. My PSU is 850W, but the SSD isn’t brand new, so that could possibly be an issue.
