Help! My Dell Ultrasharp Monitor Has Horizontal Lines And Flickering!

I have a Dell 27-inch U2718Q monitor that started flickering last night and now has horizontal lines across the screen. I checked the HDMI connection, unplugged it, and tried again this morning, but it's still the same. I bought this monitor just last month and have taken good care of it, so I don't understand what went wrong. I have a huge design deadline in just five days, and I can't afford to get a new monitor. I really need some help with this issue! Also, can someone explain how to attach an image?

I feel for you, it’s tough when something like this happens right before a deadline! Since it’s still showing issues after disconnecting everything, I agree that it might be the monitor. If you haven’t already, make sure to check if there’s a warranty on it. Dell usually has decent support for their products, so it might be worth reaching out to them to see if they can help you fix it or get a replacement.

I haven’t checked the warranty yet, but that sounds like a good idea. I’ll definitely give Dell support a call and see what they say!

It sounds like a frustrating situation! First, try connecting a different monitor using the same HDMI cable. If the problem persists on the new monitor, it might be a GPU issue or a faulty cable. If the new monitor works fine, that likely means your Dell monitor has a problem. If you don't have an extra monitor available, maybe you could project your laptop screen to a different device as a temporary fix. If all else fails, see if a friend or family member can lend you a monitor until you can get this sorted out!

Thanks for the advice! I unplugged my laptop from the monitor and it still showed the 'Dell powering down in 2 minutes' message with the lines, so I guess it must be a problem with the display itself. A friend is bringing me an old monitor later, but I'm still confused about what's going on here.
