I'm having trouble with my PC where the Ethernet connection suddenly stopped working. Yesterday, when I booted up, the Ethernet symbol was flashing, but eventually it just showed no internet connection. I've tried a lot of troubleshooting already—my boyfriend helped me out for a few hours. I can confirm it's not the cable or the network since I tested the cable on another computer and it worked. Also, I tried a known good cable on my PC, but it read the same error. I checked that the Ethernet controller is enabled in Device Manager and even uninstalled it to restart, plus I verified that DHCP IP assignment and DNS server settings are on automatic. I also ran some command prompts and reset the network adapter, but nothing has worked. To make things worse, my PC doesn't even show an option to connect to WiFi, which is really strange. I'm considering taking it to MicroCenter, but any help would be greatly appreciated! My motherboard is the MS-7E70, and I built it back in November 2025; it's used for high-intensity video editing and gaming.

Before heading to MicroCenter, you might want to check your BIOS. Make sure both LAN and Wi-Fi are enabled. Also, download the latest LAN + Wi-Fi drivers from MSI on another PC, move them to a USB stick, and install them manually. It's probably a driver/BIOS toggle issue rather than hardware failure if both adapters went offline simultaneously.
Try shutting your computer down and unplugging the power cable. Leave it without any power for about 10-15 minutes, then boot it back up. Sometimes a complete power cycle can help refresh things.
It’s a bit rare, but I’ve had a case where the Ethernet port just died. I got a USB-to-Ethernet adapter for a cheap fix. If MicroCenter doesn’t have a better option, this could save the day!
Seems like it could be an Ethernet card failure, but since you’re getting an IP address, maybe try pinging something on your local network or running a tracert to 1.1.1.1 to further diagnose the problem.
Have you tried running 'ipconfig' in Command Prompt? It can show if you get a real IP, no IP, or a failure address like 169.x.x.x. This could help narrow down the issue.
