Help! My External SSD Isn’t Recognized and Shows the Wrong Size

I've got a 512GB external ADATA SSD that was working perfectly fine with my Windows 11 laptop. Suddenly, it stopped appearing in 'This PC', and when I tried to format it, I noticed that not only has the name changed, but the size is now showing as 2048GB instead of the original 512GB. I'm really in need of this SSD, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like there might be a problem with your SSD's controller, which can indicate that the drive is failing. Before jumping to conclusions, try using a different cable to connect it and see if that makes a difference. You can also use the Diskpart command in CMD to attempt to fix it, just be careful as changes here can cause data loss.

Just a heads up, when you see that 2048GB reading, it often points to a dead controller, meaning the disk might be failing. Since you mentioned you ran Diskpart without success, it could just be a bad cable or connection. Double-check the cable first!
