I was in the middle of transferring files from my phone to a 2TB USB drive when it disconnected several times. Now, some of my images and files have completely disappeared. I'm feeling pretty defeated about it.

2TB USB drive? Is it a legitimate product? Be careful, as many fake 2TB drives exist that are actually just lower capacity, like 8GB, which can cause data loss during transfers. If it’s a generic SSD disguised as a USB, that could be the issue too, since they often misreport their actual storage.
Was it an Android phone? Unfortunately, it sounds like you might have lost those files for good. If you find a way to recover them, definitely share! Just a tip for the future: when moving files, it’s safer to copy them to an external drive first. After copying, double-check the number and size of the files to make sure everything's there before deleting anything from your phone.
