Help! My First PC Build Won’t Power On

I'm new to building PCs and I recently bought parts from eBay for my first build. Here's what I've got: an Intel i7-3770 CPU, a stock or aftermarket cooler (not too worried about heat), 16GB of DDR3 RAM, a 256GB SSD, an Intel B75 motherboard, and a stylish RGB case with four RGB fans for good airflow. I also just picked up a CX650 power supply and a Radeon RX 580 GPU. I've connected the power supply to the 24-pin motherboard plug, the ATX12V, and the PCIe to the GPU. However, I'm not sure what else I need to do to get it powered on. Any advice?

Make sure you check the motherboard's connections carefully! Did you connect the front case power buttons to the motherboard? If not, that might be why your PC isn't turning on. Just a thought!

I connected the front case power buttons, and it worked! The PC powered on and the fans are running, but now I have another problem—there's no picture on the monitor. I've tried connecting the HDMI to both the GPU and the CPU, but still nothing.

Before you panic about the no display issue, double-check if your monitor is set to the correct input. Sometimes it's easy to overlook things like this. Also, try reseating the RAM and GPU just to be sure they’re making good contact. It’s a common step that helps!

I’ll give that a shot! Thanks for the tips!

You're on the right track with those connections! Just to sum it up: you need the 24-pin for the motherboard, the 8-pin for the CPU, and the 6/8-pin PCIe for the GPU. One thing to remember is that your motherboard may still be using legacy BIOS while the RX 580 requires UEFI. If that's the case, they might not communicate properly. It could be worth checking if your motherboard supports UEFI!
