Help! My GPU Keeps Failing After a Lightning Strike

So I have a 7600 XT and things have gotten strange since a nearby lightning strike. At first, my PC just turned off, but when I restarted, the GPU driver was off. That seemed to fix itself for a while, but now my PC randomly shuts down, and the GPU driver often disconnects. Should I send my GPU for repairs, or could there be another issue causing these problems?

I wouldn’t jump to conclusions about the lightning strike being the main cause right away. It's possible your GPU took some damage, but it didn't fail immediately. If you contact warranty support, they might try to pin the blame on that incident, so be careful how you frame it. Switching to integrated graphics is a good move before contacting them; just keep it casual and play a little dumb when you explain the situation!

Haha, that's the plan! Thanks for the tips, really appreciate it!

It sounds like your GPU might be crashing. When you mentioned the driver turning off, does your screen just go black while the rest of the system stays on? If that's the case, it’s likely a GPU issue. You might want to check with a known good GPU to see if the problem persists. If everything runs smoothly, then it’s probably your graphics card that's faulty.

Yeah, when the driver goes offline, I have to restart and use the integrated graphics. Should I try running it without the GPU to see if the PC shuts down?

Absolutely! Test it without the GPU. If everything stays stable with the integrated graphics, it’s a strong indicator your GPU needs to go.
