Help! My GPU Loses Signal Randomly and PC Restarts

I recently upgraded my GPU to a PNY 5070 Ti OC and changed my PSU to a NZXT C850 850W based on recommendations. I made sure all connections were correctly seated during the installation and I have the latest GPU drivers. However, I'm experiencing random signal loss from the GPU while using minor applications like web browsing with Spotify and Discord. Interestingly, it never happens while gaming even with high loads. Additionally, my PC has restarted itself twice since the upgrade, but only when I'm just sitting on the desktop with a couple of apps open. I'm looking for suggestions on how to diagnose and hopefully fix these issues.

Can you share your full system specs? When the signal loss happens, does the entire PC just go dark, or is it only the monitor that turns off? It might help to try a different, higher quality monitor cable, especially if you’re using DisplayPort. Also, check that your BIOS and chipset drivers are updated and consider running DDU to remove your current display drivers, then reinstall the latest ones.

Here are my system specs: Intel i5 12400f, Gigabyte B760 DS3H AC motherboard, 32GB RAM (2x16), and my PNY 5070 Ti with the NZXT C850 PSU. When I lose signal, the PC stays powered on, fans and lights are working, but the monitor just goes black. I'm currently using HDMI; I don’t have any DisplayPort cables.

What brand and model is your power supply? The fact that it's 850W raises some concerns because many power supplies at that wattage can be low quality. If you ended up with a subpar PSU, that might be the reason for the restarts you're experiencing.

I'm using the NZXT C850 Gold ATX 3.1. Also, I’m using the 600W cable that came with the PSU for the GPU.
