Hey everyone! Since I got my new HP OMEN MAX 16, I've been facing an issue right from the start. Every time I boot it up after a long shutdown (like 6-8 hours), I see a black screen with the error message "The selected boot device failed" in red. After pressing Enter, the laptop shuts down but can boot up normally again with no issues afterward. I've done quite a bit of troubleshooting like updating the BIOS and drivers, running hardware diagnostics (SSD passed), checking the boot order, and trying different settings in the BIOS, but nothing seems to help. Disabling Secure Boot just leads to another error, and fast startup tweaks haven't worked either. Windows 11 runs perfectly fine once I'm past the error, so I'm really just looking for either a solid fix or some reassurance that this won't harm my device in the long run. Thanks for any advice!

It sounds like it could be a bad connection to the SSD, especially since it only happens after long shutdowns. Check the physical connections, and if that doesn't work, consider a full reinstall of Windows after backing up your data. Sometimes, formatting the drive can resolve persistent issues like this.
If your laptop is still under warranty, I’d recommend contacting the service center to get it checked out. They might be able to fix the issue without any cost to you.
I totally get the frustration! If I had this issue right after purchasing, I would have returned it. This could potentially hint at a dead CMOS battery, so definitely look into warranty options. Just check if the system clock resets after those failed boots—if it does, that’s a sign.
I checked, and the system clock is fine after a failed boot, so it seems to be working normally then.
