Help! My iPhone Swap Isn’t Going as Planned

I'm in a bit of a jam here! My dad is giving me his iPhone 13 Pro Max in exchange for my iPhone 12. I uploaded all my stuff to iCloud, restarted my iPhone 12, and logged into my dad's account. However, when I tried to set up the 13 Pro Max with my Apple ID, it was locked by a passcode I can't seem to figure out. I tried all my usual passcodes and even those of my family members, but nothing works. I accidentally removed the device from my account while trying to troubleshoot, which I thought would help. The clock is ticking because I need to get this sorted before heading back to college in a few days. I'm worried about locking myself out even more if I try guessing the passcode again. Any advice?

It sounds a bit complicated! You might need to reset both phones. If you have access to a computer, connect both phones to it and use Finder (on Mac) or iTunes (on Windows) to restore them. It should let you start from scratch on both devices. Check out this support link for more details on the process.

I tried connecting my iPhone to my Mac, but it wouldn't detect it at first. Eventually, I found a tutorial about entering recovery mode using the lightning cable. I managed to reset the phone, but now I'm facing a 1-hour deactivation. Is there a way around that? I can't find a 'Forget Password' option either.
