Help! My Keyboard’s Letter Keys Are Acting Up

I'm having a problem with my keyboard where only certain letter keys are not working properly. Oddly enough, the number keys and other functions are fine. It's mostly the first two rows of letters that are affected, and it's quite random. The keys don't seem to be completely dead; if I press them hard enough, they eventually register. A few weeks ago, I turned on filter keys and it temporarily fixed the issue for about two weeks, but now the problem has returned. I turned off filter keys, and that didn't help either. I also tried using a plug-in keyboard, but it's uncomfortable for gaming in bed at night. I'm using an old HP notebook running Windows 10. It's a bit slow, but this keyboard issue is really driving me nuts! I'd appreciate any help or suggestions for solutions.

Just to clarify, if it's a wireless keyboard, you might want to replace the batteries. But if it’s wired, it could be a hardware issue on the keyboard itself. I had similar problems before, and replacing it fixed everything!

Thanks for the tip! My keyboard is actually wired, so I guess I might need to look into a replacement soon.

It sounds like your keyboard might be wearing out. Often, there's a matrix of contacts under the keys, and if one breaks, it can make several keys act funny. Since you mentioned that it’s only the letters that are acting up, I'd suggest checking the batteries if it's a wireless keyboard. If that doesn't work, it might just be time for a new keyboard altogether.
