Help! My Laptop’s Antivirus is a Nightmare!

I'm really struggling with my laptop, and I could use some help from any IT experts out there. My bank information has been compromised for the fifth time in just seven months! I recently installed new antivirus software, but it won't let me connect to the internet at all. I've been troubleshooting for hours with no luck, and now I can't even uninstall any of the antivirus programs. I tried system restoration, but that didn't work either. Honestly, it feels like I've tried everything, and I'm getting really frustrated. By the way, I'm running Windows 10.

I feel your pain! Honestly, the best way to deal with this situation is to completely wipe your machine. Don't just throw in a new antivirus program. Instead, create a clean USB install drive from a different computer. Disconnect your laptop from everything except power, reboot it, go into BIOS (that's where we'll set it to boot from the USB), and delete everything before reinstalling the operating system. It's a bit of a hassle, but it’s super effective!

What do you mean by rebooting the laptop in BIOS? I'm not too sure how that works.

Could you explain how to make a USB install drive? I’m kinda lost on that one.

If you're already in the BIOS setup utility and feeling confused, don’t worry! It can be tricky. Generally, you'll want to look for a boot menu option where you can select your USB drive as the first boot device. If you need more detailed guidance, there are plenty of tutorials online that can walk you through it step-by-step!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll check that out for sure.

Good idea! If you search for your laptop model plus 'boot from USB,' you’ll find a bunch of helpful videos.
