Help! My Linux Mint Keeps Crashing Randomly

I've been trying out Linux Mint XFCE, and initially, it worked really well—very smooth and user-friendly. However, I've started experiencing random crashes lately. This is strange since my typical usage only consumes about 2 to 2.5 GB of RAM, and my CPU isn't stressed either. My suspicion is that it might be a hardware issue, but I've been using Windows 10 without any crashes or issues. I'm considering trying the Cinnamon version of Mint or even switching to Kubuntu with KDE Plasma for more customization options. I would love to hear your suggestions and thoughts on this! Here are my specs: Intel Pentium N3700, 4GB RAM, and a 1TB HDD.

To diagnose your issue, we really need to know what kind of error messages you're getting when Linux crashes. Is it the desktop environment crashing and sending you back to the login screen, or is it a kernel panic with the screen going black? Also, have you checked the logs with the command `journalctl`? You can scroll to the end by pressing capital G, search errors around the time of the crash, and let us know if you find anything noteworthy. Oh, and by the way, what kind of GPU are you using?

Have you checked the health of your HDD? If it's an older drive, it may be more susceptible to failure, which can lead to crashes. Keeping a close watch on its performance could help detect any issues before they worsen.

Random crashes can be frustrating! It's possible that a hardware issue is at play here, especially if you've reinstalled Linux and still have the same problem. Check for overheating, faulty RAM, or issues with your motherboard. Also, 4GB of RAM might not be enough if you're running heavy applications, so monitor your RAM and CPU usage and keep an eye on the crash logs. If your memory usage is maxing out each time you crash, it could indicate that you need more RAM or swap space.
