Hey everyone! I recently built my own PC and it was running smoothly until about six weeks ago when I started encountering some issues. Out of nowhere, my monitor will randomly shut off and the fans ramp up to full speed. The only way I can fix it is by rebooting the system. Initially, I thought this might be related to my NVIDIA drivers, so I rolled back to an older version (576.02) that I remember working fine before, but the problem persists. I also tried resetting the driver with Ctrl+Shift+Win+B, but that didn't help either. The weirdest part is that even when the monitor is off, my PC is still running—I can hear my friends on Discord! After some digging online, it seems like this issue is quite common, but I can't seem to find a solid solution. What could be causing this? Here's a rundown of my setup:
- OS: Microsoft Windows 11 Pro, Version 10.0.26100
- PSU: ROG STRIX 850W Gold Aura Edition
- Motherboard: ROG STRIX B450-F Gaming
- GPU: ROG STRIX NVIDIA GeForce RTX4070 Ti Super
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D
- RAM: 64.0 GB Kingston Fury DDR4 1600MHz
- SSDs: 2x 465.8 GB

Sounds a lot like what I experienced before. It turned out to be the XMP profile in the BIOS that was causing the chaos. I turned it off and set the RAM speed manually to just under the maximum, and that did the trick for me. You might want to give this a shot!
Make sure to monitor your temperatures; overheating could be a culprit here. High temps might cause your system to act up like that, even if it seems fine during regular usage, so it's worth keeping an eye on.
They are actually not overheating. Sometimes it even happens while I'm booting the PC.
You might want to check the two 8-pin connectors on your GPU. I had a similar problem where the side of my case was pushing against the cable, which caused issues like yours. It could be causing an intermittent connection, so it's a good idea to take a look!
My side of the case is also pushing against it a little bit. I have quite a big Lian Li case but this GPU is massive! Did you remove the side of your case or replace the cable? Did that fix your issue?
I'll definitely try that, thanks! Edit: Seems like DOCP is off, so that’s not it.
