Help! My Motherboard Won’t Power On – What Am I Doing Wrong?

I'm attempting to build my very first PC and I'm facing a major hurdle with my setup. I've got an X870i Aorus Pro Ice motherboard, a 9950X3D CPU, Viper Venom DDR5 RAM, and a Corsair SF1000 power supply. However, when I push the power button from my case or try to short the power (PW) pins on the motherboard with a screwdriver, nothing happens at all. No cooler spins, no lights. The only response I get is when I use the Q Flash Plus button on the back; then, the cooler fan spins for a second, and a CPU diode lights up briefly before going dark again. I tried flashing the latest BIOS, which seemed to work, with the yellow diode flashing for a couple of minutes and the CPU diode staying lit. But still, I can't get the motherboard to power on. Can anyone help me figure out what might be wrong?

It sounds like you've done a lot already, but make sure your power supply is definitely functioning. You might want to try jump-starting it by manually connecting the green wire and a black wire on the 24-pin connector to see if it powers on.

If your board is lighting up when you use Q Flash Plus, it might be getting power, but could still have a grounding or hardware issue. Make sure your motherboard isn't touching the case directly and check all components are seated correctly.

Have you double-checked which PW pins you're connecting to on the motherboard? It’s crucial to ensure you're hooking them up correctly. Sometimes the wrong pins can lead to the behavior you're describing. Also, take a look at the manual for pin layouts if you have it.
