Help! My New Gaming PC Keeps Crashing – Any Ideas?

I've just put together a new gaming PC, carefully managing to stick to a budget by using my old case and power supply. However, I'm encountering some frustrating crashes. The system restarts unexpectedly while playing demanding games, and even while running older titles like Civ5. It doesn't blue screen, but it's hard to predict when it will crash, even when running 3DMark Time Spy, which seems to fail at random points. I've already reseated all the components and tested it with both single and dual RAM sticks; it performs slightly better with one stick. Here's my setup: a Gigabyte Z790D AX motherboard, an i5 14600K processor, a Gigabyte RTX 5060ti graphics card, and two Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR5 7000MT/s RAM sticks—bought as a set. I'm using a Vantec Voltra 750W power supply. Any suggestions on what I should check next?

First, have you checked the temperatures? Make sure everything is cooling properly, and look out for any warning lights on your motherboard. That 750W PSU should be fine for your build, especially since you didn’t have issues with it in your old setup. Also, if your PSU is modular, double-check all the power cables to ensure they’re connected securely.

You might want to try removing the overclock on your RAM or at least dial it back. Even if it’s rated for 7000 MT/s, sometimes the CPU or motherboard has trouble handling that speed. Also, don’t forget to check if you've got the latest BIOS installed—while it might not solve everything, it's definitely a good step to ensure maximum compatibility.
