I've built over 20 PCs before, but I'm really stumped by this new build. Every time I install the Nvidia drivers for my graphics card, the screen goes black just a few seconds later. If I manage to boot into Windows, it black screens immediately after I log in. I've even tried a different GPU, my old RTX 3080 that's been reliable for years, but it didn't help either. The only temporary fix I found was moving the GPU to the second PCIe lane, which made me suspect it might be a motherboard issue. However, I bought a new motherboard of a different brand and that didn't resolve the problem either. I've replaced the PSU, motherboard, RAM, and GPU already, so I'm at a loss here. Here's my setup:
- Ryzen 9900x3D
- ASUS ROG Strix B850-F Gaming WiFi
- G.SKILL DDR5 6000 MHz (currently running at 4000 MHz with EXPO disabled)
- Nvidia RTX 5080 MSI Ventus
- Corsair RM1000x
- Windows 11 (I've also tried reverting to an earlier version, but it didn't change anything)

It’s interesting you mentioned running in safe mode. Since that works for you, I suggest double-checking all connections including power to the GPU. And when you're in safe mode, make sure you try disabling any unnecessary drivers that might conflict with your graphics driver. Sometimes it’s a simple overlooked setting that can cause these issues.
I’d recommend a few things: First, check if your motherboard’s BIOS is up to date. Also, look for any PCIe power management settings in the BIOS and consider disabling them. You might want to force the PCIe version to 4, too. Lastly, ensure you're aware of your GPU's manufacturer for any potential BIOS updates.
