Help! My New PC Build Won’t Turn On

Hey everyone, I'm in the process of moving my components from an old case to a new one, including a brand new PSU, while keeping the same motherboard and CPU. However, my PC won't turn on. I've been troubleshooting and tested the motherboard with both the new and old PSUs. I've removed all the RAM sticks and am only connecting the 24-pin power cable to see if the CPU cooler powers up.

Here are my testing results:
1. Motherboard + new PSU: ❌ doesn't turn on
2. Motherboard + old PSU: ✔️ turns on
3. I also have a power supply tester, and when I hooked up the new PSU, it showed that everything is working fine.

I just realized I only plugged in part of the cable and not the entire 24-pin connector. Any insights on what else I should check? Also, I appreciate any feedback on my final PC build!

Have you checked that everything is securely connected? Those power connectors need to be in tight!

Absolutely! That was actually the issue— I missed a couple of connectors. I updated my original post to reflect that.

Just to confirm, did you use the cables that came with the new PSU? Sometimes mixing and matching can cause issues.

Yes, I used the right cables! It turns out I just didn't plug them in the right way. Check out my edit for more details.

If it works with the old PSU but not the new one, you might have a defective PSU. Consider returning it since the tester says it's okay, but it doesn't seem to function in your build.

Great suggestion! I rushed to Best Buy and grabbed a new PSU. I started plugging it in and realized my mistake with the cables. Thanks for the nudge!

Did you remember to turn the PSU on? Sometimes it's an easy thing to overlook, but it's worth double-checking before diving deeper!

Thanks for the reply! I actually did switch the PSU on. It turns out my forgetfulness got the best of me, and I didn't plug in the cable correctly. The PSU side of the 24-pin cable is 16+8, and I only attached the 16-pin. Classic mistake!
