Hey everyone! I just finished building my new PC, but I'm facing a big issue: my Intel i9-12900K is hitting temperatures of 100°C even when it's idle or under very light loads! I noticed that the CPU cooler fan is mounted backward, but I'm not sure if that's the main cause of these crazy temps. The temperatures are bouncing wildly between 100°C and 50°C, and I've tried undervolting it to -0.065 for both the ring and core, and manually setting PL1 and PL2 to 200 watts—but the wattage seems to spike over 4000. I'm really not sure what I'm doing here and could use some help! My cooler is a Be Quiet Dark Pro 5. Thanks in advance!

Make sure you check these points:
- Have you applied thermal paste?
- Did you apply enough thermal paste?
- Are there any plastic wraps or stickers left on your components?
- Are all your fans functioning properly?
- Is there dust clogging anything?
- And how's the temperature in your room?
All of these factors can really impact your CPU temperature.
This definitely sounds like an incorrectly installed cooler. I have a 12900K too, and I’ve managed to keep it cool even with a stock i3 cooler! You might want to look into getting an LGA1700 contact frame if you’re using a warped chip, especially if it’s second-hand. That can help with heat distribution!
It sounds like your CPU cooler might not be making good contact with the CPU. Did you check if there's a plastic film on the cooler that needs to be removed? That could cause some serious overheating issues!
What cooler are you using for your CPU? It’s worth double-checking that it’s strong enough for the 12900K.
I’m using the Be Quiet Dark Pro 5.
Would that really make a huge difference? My brother said it was removed, but then again, he also mounted the fan backward.
