I recently got a new PC that came with Windows 11 Pro preinstalled, but I wanted to switch to Windows 11 Home since I have a key for that. After the installation, I noticed that my monitor started going black for a few seconds at a time. Though I could still use the PC during these blackouts, I eventually reinstalled Windows 11 Pro and updated it to the latest version as well as all the drivers, which seemed to solve the problem initially. However, after I installed a game from Steam (Star Wars: The Old Republic, which isn't very demanding), the black screens returned, this time lasting for several minutes at a stretch, with brief flickers of the display in between. The monitor itself seems fine when connected to another system, and all the cables are brand new. Could this issue likely be related to hardware? I plan to connect a different monitor to troubleshoot further if I can find one.

It sounds like you might be dealing with either a faulty GPU or an issue with your GPU drivers. Since your roommate's monitor works perfectly, you could focus on reinstalling the GPU drivers again to see if that resolves the black screen problem. Sometimes a clean driver installation can help clear up conflicts. Good luck!
Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely give the driver reinstall a shot.
