Help! My New PC Powers On Briefly and Then Shuts Down

I'm having trouble with my newly built PC that only runs for a second or two before shutting off completely and often won't turn back on afterwards. This PC was a gift from my wife, and it's really disappointing since I've tried everything I can think of without success. Here are the specs: Asrock Steel Legend B760m wifi motherboard, Intel i5-14400 CPU, RTX 5060 8GB GPU, Samsung VL22560 256 GB M.2 SSD, Okinos Aqua 3 Case, and 32GB DDR5 RAM (only using one stick because I'm worried about messing something up). I have a Darkflash Perfectmost 750w power supply that's brand new and seems to work fine. I've unplugged it to wait, tried a new motherboard, reseated the RAM and CPU, and even tested the RAM and CPU in another computer, where they worked fine. There's no OS installed yet; I have a USB with Windows 11 ready to go, but I can't even get the computer to stay on. Also, I'm picking up a push-pin cooler since I currently don't have proper mounts for my old cooler. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like your CPU cooler is crucial here. If it's not properly mounted, the CPU can get too hot and shut down immediately. Wait for that push-pin cooler to arrive before trying again. Also, make sure to check your motherboard's BIOS version; some B760 boards need an update for the i5-14400 to work correctly. Another thing to check is the front panel cables, especially the power button. If they’re loose or miswired, that could be causing the power issues you're seeing. It might even help to test booting the motherboard outside of the case to rule out any shorts. Good luck, I think you're close to sorting this out!

Also, don’t forget to check the BIOS battery just in case!
