Help! My New PC Won’t Boot or Turn Off Properly

Hey everyone! I just finished building a new PC, but I'm running into a big problem. When I hit the power button, everything powers on – fans are spinning, LEDs are lit – but there's no display on my monitor. Plus, I can't turn the PC off normally using the case's power button; I have to cut the power from the PSU instead. It seems like there's an error popping up right after I turn it on.

Here's what I've already tried: I've tested the GPU, ran a RAM test with a single stick in various slots, cleared the CMOS, checked the SSD, and made sure all power cables are connected properly (24-pin ATX, 8-pin CPU, GPU power).

My setup includes a Gigabyte B650I AX (rev 1.1) motherboard and a Ryzen 5 9600X CPU, which I've updated to ensure compatibility.

Could my CPU be dead, or is there something else I should check? Thanks for any advice!

I think your BIOS update failed because you turned off the PC while it was updating. The solid LED after the initial update process suggests it was interrupted. You need to follow the motherboard update instructions and try the BIOS update again from scratch.

There's a chance your CPU might be dead, but it’s worth testing. If you have a friend with an AM5 socket CPU, try swapping them out to see if it boots up. It might also be the display cable (HDMI or DisplayPort) that's faulty, so check that too. If you're stuck, a local PC repair shop could definitely help you out.

Have you ensured that you've checked the cables going to the power button on your case? Sometimes that's the culprit. Can your PC still boot from the front panel? If so, that’s a good sign that the issue might just be with your case's button.

Yes, I can start it from the front panel. So that's a good indication, right?

When updating your BIOS, did you use the onboard Q-Flash button or did you do it within the UEFI? If it was Q-Flash, did you see a green LED during the process? If it was in UEFI, did the PC restart automatically afterward? If all else fails, try pulling the motherboard out of the case and booting it on a wooden table using a screwdriver to short the power switch pins.

I used the Q-Flash button and saw the LED changes during the update, but since I can't turn off the PC normally, I had to cut the power when it was done.
